Our furnace was down, so no A/C and no heat. Even before our furnace was down, our A/C stopped working. We called Mighty Ducts/Haven and they were able to send Cody to our home. Cody was very professional and friendly. He explained to us what happened and provided us with a repair estimate. He was able to repair our furnace, including getting our A/C up and running the same day. He also resolved other issues we’ve had with the vents. He is efficient and is a very hard worker. 100% Grade A service and reliability from the the customer service, repair consult, sales and installation crew. Our old unit was 23 years old and costing a fortune to run (even with solar energy). I did my due diligence and searched for a solid company with great reviews and reputation and Haven Air is the best. We live in Ontario and they are based in Anaheim. It was a big job for our 3200 sf home, taking 2 full days. They were never late, cleaned up thoroughly every time, very courteous employees, knowledgeable and professional every step. Andreas Laux was my lead sales guy and man on the job. No pressure to purchase anything and was thorough in his explanation of the different units available for our size home. He followed up with me every day and kept me informed. I was very comfortable with him and highly recommend this company for either repair or a new A/C or furnace. Is it important to clean my AC unit?

Is there a special AC condenser cleaner?

Different types of cleaners are available, but we would like to note a few things here.

It would be best for you to leave the condenser cleaning to professionals. Virtually, all coil cleaners can be harmful if not properly applied and rinsed. You must take into consideration the landscaping surrounding the AC unit too.

If no service provider is available to perform the cleaning on time, consider just plain water applied with an adjustable nozzle gun. Avoid bending the ‘fins’ with too much water pressure. Prevent damage to electrical components by avoiding getting them wet.

Air Conditioning maintenance tips:

Ensure that nothing obstructs the A/C unit’s air intake around its sides, and air discharge off the top. Blocked intakes around the sides can severely impact the system’s performance, while also causing premature equipment failure. Use this guideline but note that some models may require larger setbacks to obstructions (refer to your owners/installation manual):
Side A (to building): min. 6”
Side B (to one side): min. 12”
Side C (service side): min. 24”
Side D (remaining side): min. 24”

Air filter maintenance – Make sure that the furnace filter is replaced as per the manufacturer requirements. That means your typical 1” filters need to be replaced every 3 months and your thicker IAQ filters between 3 months and a year. You can call our FrontDesk for more information on your specific filter.

Note that ALL Haven Installations include a hospital-grade MERV16 Air Filtration System that requires an annual filter replacement.

Make sure that no lawn sprinklers directly hit your ac unit.
Pay attention to any abnormal sounds during operation. Turn the unit off if it does not sound right to you!
If your furnace is installed in the attic, ensure there is no water in the secondary protection pan (under evaporator) and check this at least once at the beginning of the A/C season after the unit has been operating for about 4 hours.
